An economic study of the various variables associated with the green pea crop in Egypt

Abstract

It is known that Egypt is located in the arid region, where the Nile River is the main source of water. And the lifeline of the Egyptians, providing it with about 5.55 billion cubic meters annually. Water scarcity in Egypt requires innovation and new businesses that will save water and work to solve the problem of water scarcity. The good management is one of the best solutions, that can be followed to solve the problem of water scarcity of limited water resources.
So, the aim of this study is to provide farmers and decision makers with a new accurate and inexpensive water management technology.
The study was conducted in the farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, which is located at the latitude (30.35619 N 30.35623 E Benha University during the 2017-2018).
Three methods of water management were tested, namely, the Expert System (ES), Water Balance (WB) and CropWat program (CW). They were investigated under the two irrigation systems (surface drip irrigation (DI) and subsurface drip irrigation (SDI).
